1. Hosting on GitHub Pages

This website is hosted by GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA ("GitHub").

When you open the site, your browser automatically sends technical data to GitHub's servers. This includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, the referring page, and information about your browser and operating system. GitHub logs visitors' IP addresses to keep its service secure. We have no access to these logs and do not combine them with any other data. How long GitHub keeps them is described in GitHub's privacy statement.

Without this data the website cannot be delivered to your browser.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to provide this website securely and reliably.

Transfer to the USA: GitHub has self-certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework. The European Commission has recognized this framework as providing an adequate level of data protection (Art. 45 GDPR).

2. Gear list and product photos from an external website

The product list, the date it was last updated and the product photos are loaded directly from an external website that is also hosted on GitHub Pages. To load them, your browser connects to that website, so your IP address and the technical data described in section 1 are transmitted to GitHub. We do not receive any of this data.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR. Our legitimate interest is to show an up-to-date product list with pictures.

3. Data stored in your browser

The site saves the last loaded gear list and the time it was saved in your browser's local storage (under the name soundmatch:gear-cache:v1). This makes the page load faster and lets it keep working if the list can't be loaded. The saved copy contains only the product list, no personal data, and it is never sent anywhere.

Search terms and filter settings only appear in the page address (URL) in your browser and are not stored by us.

You can delete the saved copy at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser settings.

Legal basis: § 25(2) no. 2 TDDDG. The storage is strictly necessary to provide the page you asked for.

4. No cookies, analytics or tracking

This website does not set cookies and does not use analytics tools, tracking pixels, advertising networks, social media plugins, embedded videos or externally hosted fonts. All scripts, styles, fonts, icons and frequency graphs are served from this website itself. The only exceptions are the gear list and product photos described in section 2.

Product links lead to external shops (for example Amazon or Linsoul). When you click one, the shop's website opens and its own privacy policy applies. The links are shown without referral, affiliate or tracking codes, and your browser is told not to pass on which page you came from. This website itself does not record your clicks.

6. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you (Art. 15),
  • have it corrected (Art. 16) or deleted (Art. 17),
  • restrict its processing (Art. 18),
  • receive it in a portable format (Art. 20),
  • object to processing based on legitimate interest (Art. 21).

Because we do not have access to GitHub's server logs, requests about that data are best sent to GitHub directly.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), for example in the country where you live.

7. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the website changes. The current version is always available on this page.
